When it comes to that time when you are looking for a new job, Recruitment Agencies are often a great way to increase your chances of finding good quality employment opportunities, whilst also protecting your confidentially.

However, in order to get the best out of your Recruiter, you as the job-seeker must try to build a relationship with them, to ensure they get to know you as best as they can and therefore represent you to the best of their ability.
Of course, the Recruiter themselves has the obligation to make sure your email/application is acknowledged and if you are a good ‘fit’ for a potential vacancy then they should be calling you within a reasonable timeframe for a more detailed conversation, but in our experience, it is those candidates that really make the effort to elevate their profiles in our minds that we tend to have more success supporting.

Moreover, you should then follow-up your email with a call, introducing yourself over the phone and from there even request a face-to-face meeting with the Recruiter so that you can meet them in person and start building a relationship with them for the long-term. It may be that their client base doesn’t have a suitable opportunity for you at the time, but if the Recruiter gets to know you and has you in their minds, you can rest assured that the moment a relevant and exciting position arises, you will be getting a phone call to discuss the details.
If you are a candidate that has a profile that the Recruiter feels fits well with their client-base and that Recruiter denies you the opportunity for a face-to-face meeting, move on to another company that will give you their time and energy; it is the least you deserve for putting your trust in them.
It is clear that Recruiters cannot help everyone find work – this is just a simple fact regardless of how professional and approachable they are, but if you have the experience in an industry sector that they service and they know you well enough, they will call you and you will be given chances that other candidates won’t be.
